Refurbishment Almost Complete

Major refurbishment works are almost complete at Woodhall Spa Cricket Club's Pavilion.  Work began in earnest by the main contractor, Peter Jackson Cabinet Makers Ltd of Horncastle in early September.  The pavilion which was opened in 1971 has served the club well, but lacked modern facilities.   Project manager, Martin Wright, successfully gained the award of a £50,000 grant from WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental Ltd), to refurbish the community facilities at the pavilion....

Annual Awards Dinner

Players, members and friends all enjoyed the annual Awards Dinner at The Dower House Hotel on Saturday. Chairman Tomy Armstrong welcomed guests and thanked a range of people for their hard work throughout the season while junior co-ordinator Simon Caswell and senior captains Pete Epton, Paul Timby and Jack Luffman all gave their traditional end of season speeches for their respective teams before presenting awards. Lincolnshire Aviation History, Under The Hammer

The trophy cabinet of the late Spitfire test pilot, the late Alex Henshaw MBE (Flying Legend), is to be sold by Woodhall Spa Cricket Club, at Wrights Auctions next sale at Frampton West, Boston on Saturday 17th October.  Woodhall Spa Cricket Club have recently received grant aid from WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental Ltd), to refurbish their pavilion.  Proceeds from the sale of the trophy cabinet will go towards disability access and facilities at the refurbished pavilion. Pavilion Refurbishmnet Underway

It is full steam ahead at Woodhall Spa Cricket Club.  No sooner had the last ball been bowled, than refurbishment began at the Jubilee Park Pavilion.  After a formal tender period, the club awarded the renovation contract to Peter Jackson Cabinet Makers Ltd of Horncastle.  The award was approved by the project main funders, WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental Ltd) and the England and Wales Cricket Board Trust.  A grant of £50,000 was registered with the Communities Fund Regul...

High Flying Season Almost To An End

Saturday's matches saw the conclusion to successful seasons for both the 1st and 2nd XI teams. In the Lincs ECB Premier League, the 1stXI confirmed ist third place finish with a convincing 114 run win over Grimsby Town. Batting first at Jubilee Park the home side amassed 239-9, a total that was largely based around two 50 plus partnerships between Sam Evison (40) and Jack Luffman (42) and then between Malinga Bandara (74) and Matt Sargeant (42).

Disappointing weekend for Club

It was a miserable Bank Holiday for Woodhall Spa due to both the weather and results. On Saturday the 1stXI lost ground on new leaders Bracebridge Heath after suffering an 83 run defeat at home to Sleaford. Chasing Sleaford's 215-8 the home side were dismissed for a disappointing 132.

Firsts Stay Top – By 1 Point!

The 1stXI remained top of the Lincs ECB Premier League after dominating their hosts Lincoln Lindum on Saturday. After being invited to bat by the home skipper, Spa were in a little bit of trouble at 31-2 with both openers back in the pavilion. However, a 107 run partnership between Malinga Bandara and Etienne Botha then ensued.

Winning Runs Halted

The winnigs streaks of both the 1st and 2nd XIs were halted on Saturday with a five wicket and 38 run defeat respectively. At Louth, the 1stXI produced its worst performance and batting first could only muster 150 before being bowled out. Louth's professional, Amila Wettasinghe taking eight of wickets to fall.
