Afternoon Teas, 1940s style!

On Sunday July 19th, as part of the Village's 1940s Weekend, refreshments and afternoon teas will be served from the Club Pavilion. Any help will be greatly receieved either on the day serving or any baking/food creations that could be sold and help to continue to raise funds for the Pavilion Fund. Fancy dress is optional!

Under-15s Reach County Cup Final

The under-15 side reached the final of the County Cup last night with a seven wicket victory over a strong Spalding side. On a glorious evening at Jubilee Park, the visitors won the toss and elected to bat and posted a total of 91 from their 20 overs. The bowling attack of captain Alfie Lindsey, Jack Cooke, Tom Caswell, Jamie Jenkins and Henry Wilson all carried out their duties well and were backed up by some good fielding for the most part.

Crushing wins for Saturday 1sts and 2nds

The 1stXI continued its winning run on Saturday with a 119-run victory away at Grimsby Town. Skipper Jack Luffman won the toss and elected to bat on a flat but slow Augusta Street wicket and his decision was proved correct with Spa posting a daunting 277-7 from 50 overs. The innings was dominated by an opening stand of 94 between Luffman and Sam Evison (38) and then one of 50 between Malinga Bandara and Ricky Lovelace (21).

Thrilling Wins

The 1stXI solidified its second spot in the Lincs ECB Premier League with an exciting 6 run victory at home to Skegness. Having won the toss and electing to bat skipper Jack Luffman was the first to lose his wicket with the score on 33. Wanderers Seconds Book Place In Cup Final

The Wanderers 2ndXI booked its place in the Divsion 3 League Cup Final with a 77-run victory over Hykeham. Needing to win and restrict their visitors to just five bonus points, Pete Epton's men were asked to bat first under cloudy skies and at 23-2 were in a spot of bother. However, an undefeated partnership of 169 between 14-year-old Henry Wilson and Jack Luffman then followed.

Great Weekend Of Results

Three wins and a tie completed a good set of results for the Spa's senior sides at the weekend. A Luke Smith inspired 1st XI returned to winning ways with an emphatic six wicket win over much fancied Lindum at Jubilee Park. Having lost the toss, the hoem side blew away their visitors for just 108.

Sobers' Six Sixes Ball Mystery

Celebrated author Grahame Lloyd will host an evening at the Pavilion on Thursday 18th June from 7.30pm to share the story of the mystery surrounding the credibiltiy of the 'ball' which was hit for six sixes by Sir Gary Sobers and subsequently sold by Christies. Club Stalwart Passes Away

Club stalwart Mrs Margaret Salmon sadly passed away last Sunday, May 31st. Her funeral will take place on Friday June 12th at 1pm at Kirkby-on-Bain church with mourners invited back to the cricket club pavilion following the service. The Club offers its sincere condolences to her family and in particular her son and Hon Treasurer Nigel Salmon.

Unbeaten Run Ends For Firsts, Seconds Win

The 1stXI's unbeaten run ended at title rivals Bracebridge Heath on Saturday with a six wicket loss. Despite what looks like a heavy defeat the side worked very hard in very trying circumstances after losing the toss and having to bat first on a pitch that had been left uncovered throughout Friday's heavy rain.
