Malinga To Coach Goa

Last season's Club professional Malinga Bandara will team up with West Indies legend Courtney Walsh to coach for the Goa Cricket Association. Malinga, who was originally signed for the 2016 season but will now be replaced by fellow Sri Lankan Prasanna Jayawardene, took on the role earlier in this month as his first step into the international coaching fraternity. WSCC wish Malinga every success with his new venture.

Fixtures Washed Out

Unfortunately the weekend's fixtures were all washed out due to the heavy rain and inclement weather towards the end of last week. Training for seniors will be again be held Tuesday and Thursday this week in preparation for this weekend's matches. On Saturday the 1stXI travel to Skegness in the ECB Premier League while the 2ndXI host SLBL favourites Spalding at Jubilee Park.

Season Starts With Friendly Win

The 2016 season finally got underway for the Spa on Sunday with a friendly fixture at home to Skegness. After Saturday's proposed fixture at home to Gedling was called off due to the adverse weather, the players were desperate to get some game time ahead of the start of the league season. Skegness won the toss and decided to bat first on a pitch that was dry and firm with a good covering of grass.

PCA England Masters To Vistit The Spa

PREPARATIONS for Woodhall Spa Cricket Club’s England Legends day in June are well underway with the announcement that the game will see the home side take on the official PCA England Masters in a 20/20 affair. Already eight former England internationals have been confirmed for the day with the side being led by current England Test batting coach Mark Ramprakash. Banda Reaches MCL Semis

WSCC Club Professional Malinga Bandara starred with the ball as his Virgo Super Kings MCL 20/20 side reached the inaugural tournament's semi-final stage on Sunday. Banda took 4-16 with the ball, executed the run out of Ashwell Prince and took a catch in the deep in the final overs to claim the Man of the Match award in Sharjah. He now sits second in the competition's wicket taking list with nine scalps in the five games he has played and is top of the catches list.

England Legends To Play At Jubilee Park

  WOODHALL Spa Cricket Club’s Jubilee Park ground will be graced by some of the game’s greatest ever England players this Spring. Malinga Bought At Auction

Club professional Malinga Bandara has been bought at the auction for the inaugural 20/20 Masters Champions League to be held in the UAE during January and February. The competition will see six teams - named after star signs - take part in a round robin style competition at grounds in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah with all teams made up of retired international superstars.
