Woodhall Spa’s 1stXI returned with nine points from a losing draw at second placed Market Deeping in the Lincs ECB Premier League on Saturday which leaves the side sixth in the table, just eight points from top spot. Timby Takes Team Of The Week In Fantasy League

The Preliminary Round of the cup took place this weekend and there is one big shock - Ann Luffman’s leaders losing out to mid table Jack Timby. Well done Jack! Congratulations to Ross Dixon and Adam Barker for being the first players to score “double up points” with 5 wickets and a 107 runs respectively.

Winning Weekend

It was a winning weekend for Woodhall Spa Cricket Club. On Saturday the 1stXI completed a convincing winning draw against newly promoted Nettleham to claim 16 points and move up to tied third in the Lincolnshire ECB Premier League. Captain Jack Luffman won the toss and elected to bat on a hard and flat Jubilee Park surface and would have been delighted with the 241-7 posted by his team.

Strong Showings From Under 13s

The under-13 side had two excellent performances this week. In the County Cup fixture last night (Thursday) the side progressed through to the next round with a 177 run victory over Skegness. Batting first Spa posted a huge 200-1 form 18 overs.

Ann Leads The Way

The top three in the Fantasy League remained the same after Week 2 with Ann Luffman topping the pile over son Jack and Henry Wilson. Jack claimed the Team of the Week prize. This week sees the league continue and the Preliminary Round of the Cup take place.

Positive Weekend For Club

On Saturday the 1stXI made the trip to 2015 Premier League champions Bracebridge Heath and were able to include Sri Lankan Test player Prassana Jayawardene in their line up for the first time this season. Skipper Jack Luffman won the toss and elected to bowl and may have been ruing his decision at the half way point of the home side's innings when the score stood at 151-1. Spa hadn't performed badly but were lacking some luck.

Fantasy League Week 1

The 2016 Fantasy League kicked off this weekend and Club membership secretary Ann Luffman has taken an early lead in the standings. She leads by 76 points from son Jack Luffman who is 77 points ahead of Henry Wilson in third. The player who scored the most individual points for the weekend was Jack Timby who amassed 277 for any team who had included the batsman/wicket-keeper in their line up.

Timby To Play Against International Stars

Spa wicket-keeper batsman Jack Timby today (Tuesday) takes his place in a Lincolnshire CCC Development XI who will take on Nottinghamshire CCC 2ndXI in a three-day game at Sleaford CC. Timby will take the gloves in the encounter and will face some big names with the likes of former Zimbabwe captain Brendan Taylor and World T20 winner Michael Lumb named in the side making the journey from Trent Bridge. Junior Teams Start With Wins

On Sunday the under-10 team, featuring two girl players for the first time, ran out 69 run winners over Bracebridge Heath at Jubilee Park. Starting with a total of 200, batting in pairs  and losing eight runs for each wicket lost, Spa made a net score of 273 after losing just two wickets in their innings. The visitors scored a net total of 204 after losing seven wickets.

League Season Starts With Mixed Fortunes

On Saturday the 1stXI traveled to the coast to take on Skegness in the Lincs ECB Premier League . Captain Jack Luffman handed League debuts to JP Prinsloo, Tanveer Sikander and 14-year-old Henry Wilson and when he lost the toss the home skipper didn't hesitate to ask the visitors to bat first in bowling friendly conditions.
