Gibbs Confirmed

With just over a week before the Lashings All Stars descend on Jubilee Park it has been confirmed that South African super batsman Herschelle Gibbs will definitely be in the side and he too has tweeted the Club saying he is looking forward to the day. Also confirmed at this stage are Azhar Mahmood, former England ODI skipper Adam Hollioke, Devon Malcolm, Corey Collimore, Saqlain Mushtaq, Ed Giddens, Wasim Jaffer and Phil DeFreitas.

Three Out of Three

It was a weekend of wins for Woodhall Spa CC with all three senior sides that played being victorious. The 1st XI climbed back to joint fourth in the ECB Premier League table with an 112 run victory at Louth. After being asked to bat on a tricky surface and contending with a lengthy rain delay Spa posted an excellent 211-8 from the 50 overs.

Firsts Reach Another Final

The 1stXI reached yet another 20/20 final last night with a seven wicket victory over Lindum in the Stephen Bradford Memorial Trophy at Sleaford. Having won the toss skipper Jack Luffman asked Lindum to bat first to which they posted 112-6 from their 18 overs thanks to some tight bowling and fielding from the Spa especially after their opponents had reached 60-0 from 10 overs. Juniors Through to Finals

Both the under-13 and under-15 sides made it through to Cup finals this week. On Monday evening, the under-15 team led by Jack Timby overcame their Boston counterparts by 90 runs to reach the East Lindsey League Cup Final. Not to be outdone, Alfie Lindsey's under-13 team produced a fine performance with bat, ball and in the field to beat a very strong Bourne side to reach the County Cup Final on Monday.

Mixed Weekend

It was a mixed weekend of results for the Club's senior sides. The 1stXI conceded more ground to leaders Bourne when the latter came away with a comfortable six weekend win from their visit to Jubilee Park. The Spa posted a below par 203-9 in an innings that never really got going despite useful partnerships and contributions from Jonny Cheer (50), Ricky Lovelace (29), Ben O'Brien (31) and Malinga Bandara (42).

Firsts Retain Cup

The 1stXI retained the prestigious Albion Cup last night with a seven wicket victory against fellow ECB Premier League side Lindum. After winning the toss skipper Jack Luffman asked Lindum to bat first and after a steady start the side from Lincoln posted a challenging 128-4 from their 18 overs. The total was largely based around an unbeaten half century from Lincolnshire CCC player Kranjit Bansal who has rejoined the Club.

Representative Honours

A number of Spa players and officials have been selecetd to represent the Lincolnshire ECB Premier League team to face a Norway national side in a 20/20 encounter at Sleaford next week. Spa Head Coach Paul Timby has been asked to lead the team by the League's selection committee and together they have put together a promising side made up mostly under-19 players currently playing in the Premier League.
