Excellent Weekend Of Club Results

It was an excellent weekend of results for the Club with three senior and two junior wins. On Friday night the under-15 side tharshed their Grantham counterparts by 10 wickets after bowling the home side out for 23 and then on Sunday the under-10 team recorded its second victory of the season beating Hartsholme by 53 runs. U13s Continue Impressive Form

The Under-13 team continued its impressive start to the season with another convincing seven wicket win over Caythorpe. Spa bowled out their hosts for 32 thanks to three wickets from Ollie Caswell and two each from Dewi Bourke and Emma Leggate. The fielding was also impressive with two run outs being executed and good catches being taken by Leggate, Aiden Willerton and two from Sam Cooke.

Emphatic Victory For Firsts

The 1st XI’s early season good form continued on Saturday in the Lincs ECB Premier League with an emphatic 132 run victory over the dangerous Market Deeping. Home skipper Jack Luffman won the toss and elected to bat on a hard Jubilee Park surface and despite the overhead conditions his decision was vindicated with Spa posting a challenging 230-9 from its 50 overs. This was based around two big partnerships of 113 between Sam Evison (56) and Malinga Bandara (85) and then one of 70 between Bandara...

Firsts Claim 20 Points

The 1stXI returned home from Grantham with a maxium 20 points thansk to a nine wicket victory and all roudn team performance. Skipper Jack Luffman won the toss and asked the home side to bat first but despite an early wicket for the impressive Luke Smith the home side were well poised at 100-1 at the 25 over drinks interval. This soon turned into 111-1 before Spa's leg spinner Malinga Bandara and off-spinner Etienne Botha ripped through the Grantham batting line up.

Wanderers 2nd XI Start With Win

Woodhall Spa’s Saturday teams’ impressive batting displays were to no avail as the thundery storms that hit Lincolnshire meant that both the 1st and 2nd XI’s matches were abandoned during the second innings of the match. At home, the 1st XI had amassed an impressive 283-7 in its Lincs ECB Premier League fixture versus Market Rasen. It was an impressive looking batting card with openers Jack Luffman (89) and Sam Evison (43) putting on an 113 run opening partnership to start the innings off well.

Hat-Trick Of Wins Kick Starts League Season

The Spa sides claimed a hat-trick of wins at the weekend. Ricky Lovelace scored a match winning century for the 1st XI while Alex King took 6-22 to help the 2nd XI to a 116 run victory. For full report click Match_Report_18.04.15.pdf    

League Campaigns Start

The 2015 league season opens tomorrow with both 1st and 2nd XIs in action. The 1st XI travel to Spalding for its Lincolnshire ECB Premier League opener in what will be a tricky encounter. Spa are certainly a new look side this year with the addition of three all rounders in the shape of under-18 South African Etienne Botha and two recruits from Alford CC - Ross Dixon and Joe Irving.

Lovelace Looking Forward To Return

Woodhall Spa batsman Ricky Lovelace cannot wait for this season to get underway after facing a tough personal battle in 2014. The 30-year-old right-hander played just a handful of matches in the ECB Premier League last year following the diagnosis and subsequent treatment of testicular cancer. Lovelace said: “Batting is hard enough at the best of times and there was no doubt I was out of form at the beginning of last season.
