Silverware Wednesday

It was a memorable Wednesday evening for the Club this week after it secured two more winning trophies.

The 1st XI secured a hat-trick of “20/20” Wins with a  convincing eight wicket victory over the much fancied Bracebridge Heath in the inugural final of the Stephen Bradford Memorial Trophy. It was the latter who set the early the pace and had posted 38 on the board off the first four overs, however, the introduction of Jonny Cheer and the ever impressive Alex King stemmed the run flow and wickets began to tumble. Cheer picking up two, Connor Parsons one, Ben O’Brien one and the returning Malinga Bandara took three in his final over to finish with figures of 4-17 from his four overs and restrict BBH to 105.

In reply, Spa got off to its customary flyer thanks to O’Brien who smashed a quickfire 20 and Cheer 24 but it was left to Sam Evison (16 not out) and Bandara (38 not out) to finish off the job. Bandara was named Man of the Match.

On the same night the under-15 added another piece of silverware to the trophy cabinet by claiming the East Lindsey Leaguye Cup. Setting their openents 149 to win , the Spa bowlers restricted them to just 50. More details to follow. More detaisl to follow.
