Pre-Season Friendlies Show Promise
The Club completed two wins in the opening weekend of pre-season friendlies.
On Saturday a strong looking line-up hosted Nottingham based Gedling CC and came out winners by 124 runs after posting 298-4. Highlights of the innings was a retired 101 form Jack Timby, an unbeaten 86 from Prassanna Jayawardena and 47 from 16-year-old Henry Wilson.
In reply Gedling were bowled out for 174 with stand-in skipper Ross Dixon the pick of the bowlers with four wickets while debutant Pradeep Chanditha, the returning Alex King and the evergreen Pete Jackson all taking two each.
On Sunday, the side led by 2nd team Captain Matthew Sargeant beat visitors East Haddon form Yorkshire by one wicket chasing down a total in the 180s. Sargeant, Wilson and Tom Dixon were all in the runs while young wicket keeper Alex Hodson backed up his four victims with an unbeaten knock to steer his side home alongside John Temperton.
This weekend sees the sides take on Skegness at home in a frindly on Saturday before the Wanderers 2ndXI start its league campaign with a home fixture against their Boston counterparts.
Ross Dixon claimed four wickets in his first bowl of the season.
