PCA England Masters To Vistit The Spa

PREPARATIONS for Woodhall Spa Cricket Club’s England Legends day in June are well underway with the announcement that the game will see the home side take on the official PCA England Masters in a 20/20 affair.

Already eight former England internationals have been confirmed for the day with the side being led by current England Test batting coach Mark Ramprakash. He will have a feared bowling attack at his disposal with 2005 Ashes heroes Simon Jones and Matthew Hoggard leading the seam attack along with Melbourne Cricket Ground legend Dean Headley and the Oval’s assassin Devon Malcolm making up the pace quartet. Middlesex spinner Min Patel will complete the bowling line-up. Wicket-keeping legend Paul Nixon will take the gloves and the remaining confirmed player is former Nottinghamshire and Surrey left-handed batsman Usmaan Afzaal. The three places left to be filled will be confirmed very shortly.

The day, which will be sponsored by Crowders Nurseries of Horncastle, will see the fixture commence at 3.30pm when it is hoped the two sides will provide 40 overs of high-energy, entertaining cricket and will provide another huge fundraising effort to further boost the Club’s junior and disability sections and facilities.

Three of the PCA England Masters will oversee a junior session at the ground prior to the corporate lunch which will consist of an auction of a range of highly impressive lots; a three course meal with a player of your choice and a question and answer segment with one of the England men, all compered by former England bowler and club friend Ed Giddins.

Preparations for the day are already underway and Secretary of the Club John Luffman, who will oversee the organisation of the day, is hoping the event will provide another memorable day for the Club and village. He said: “Through our very good relationship with Ed Giddens we have managed to secure the services of the PCA England Masters for the day. We will actually be the first fixture of their season and already early indications are that everyone is looking forward to coming to our wonderful ground.

“The day promises to be a superb sporting and entertaining occasion for all cricket and sport lovers and I urge everyone not to miss out.”

Entrance to the public is £6 per adults and £4 for concessions all with free parking.

There will also be Corporate tables available and other sponsorship opportunities with further information available by contacting john.luffman@sky.com or 01526 569114.
