Pavilion Refurbishmnet Underway

It is full steam ahead at Woodhall Spa Cricket Club.  No sooner had the last ball been bowled, than refurbishment began at the Jubilee Park Pavilion.

After a formal tender period, the club awarded the renovation contract to Peter Jackson Cabinet Makers Ltd of Horncastle.  The award was approved by the project main funders, WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental Ltd) and the England and Wales Cricket Board Trust.  A grant of £50,000 was registered with the Communities Fund Regulator ‘ENTRUST’ and works began in earnest.

The Pavilion was opened in 1971 and was then used by both the cricket and hockey clubs for predominantly male sport.  After several open days and market research, the club confirmed the need for a modern facility which can be used throughout the year by all ages and genders.  Ladies cricket is in its infancy but interest is tremendous.  Long term plans are to provide better female facilities.

In the meantime, the refurbishment will provide safer changing rooms for juniors, better disability access and facilities as well as a more environmentally friendly heating system.

Project Manager Martin Wright, said ‘The refurbishment will provide probably the best sports pavilion in the area, and will be available for community use throughout the year.  The modernisation would not have been possible without the club’s hard work in fund raising, together with the support of ELDC, Woodhall Spa Parish Council, WREN, and ECB Trust’.

‘Work is going well, and is ahead of schedule, in order to allow the Pavilion to re-open for its annual Christmas Fair in December’.
