Junior Teams Start With Wins

On Sunday the under-10 team, featuring two girl players for the first time, ran out 69 run winners over Bracebridge Heath at Jubilee Park.

Starting with a total of 200, batting in pairs  and losing eight runs for each wicket lost, Spa made a net score of 273 after losing just two wickets in their innings. The visitors scored a net total of 204 after losing seven wickets. A great start for Spa’s youngest stars!

On Monday evening, the under-15 side got off to a flying start at home to Barkston & Syston. The visitors batted first and scored a total of 80 from their 16 allotted overs. The home bowling attack of captain Alfie Lindsey (2-11), Luke Ware (3-34), Henry Wilson (2-15) and Dewi Bourke (1-18) were in fine form with seven of the nine wickets to fall clean bowled.

In reply the Spa batsmen were in destructive mood and chased down the winning margin in just 12 overs. Openers Nitin Joachim (33 ret) and Henry Wilson (27no) started things off positively and Tom Caswell (15 no) joined the fun on the former’s enforced retirement after reaching 30. Well done boys!
