Firsts Go Third

The 1st XI climbed to third in the Lincs ECB Premier League with a 16 point winning draw at reigning champions Sleaford on Saturday.

Asked to bat on a difficult pitch Spa amassed 223-9 thanks largely to two crucial partnerships between Sam Evison (47) and Ricky Lovelace (26) and then a late order one of 96 between Matthew Sargeant (65) and Jack Hughes (39 not out).

In reply Sleaford slipped to 86-7 thanks to a run-out and three wickets from Malinga Bandara before finally holding out for a losing draw. For full report click here.

Meanwhile at home the 2nd XI were well beaten by their Sleaford counterparts by 106 runs.

Sunday’s scheduled Wanderers 2nd XI match away at Bracebridge Heath was cancelled due to the heavy overnight and early morning rain.
