Firsts Claim Final Spot

The First XI will be able to defend its Albion Cup title in a fortnight following a 60 run victory over Cherry Willingham at Bracebridge Heath last night.

Batting first, the Woodhall batsmen amassed 190-3 from their 18 overs with opener Jonny Cheer continuing his fine form with 107 not out. (This century followed on from a League hundred on Saturday and an unbeaten 78 for Lincolnshire in the second innings of their victory over Northumberland on Tuesday). He was well supported by fellow opener Ben O’Brien and Matt Sargeant.

Cherry were never really up with the steep run rate once O’Brien had bowled three very tight overs at the start of the innings and despite a brave effort the Lincoln based side finished on 130-6. Off-spinner Paul Timby bowled well to claim three wickets with skipper Jack Luffman claiming two and Nick Bishop one in the final over of the game.

Woodhall will now face either Lindum or Hartsholme in the final on July 9th at Hartsholme CC.
