Double Delight Sunday For Woodhall CC

Another fine Sunday afternoon for the club with the 1st & 2nds both getting 20 points with the tough task with both on the road. The first team travelled to Gorse Lane Grantham and 2nds to Laburnum Drive Cherry Willingham. Stand in skipper Michael Ackerman still on a high after Saturdays headed victory for the 2nd team, meant he was in attacking spirits even though he lost the toss and Grantham were held to 140 off their 40 overs. Chris Lee getting three wickets from his 7 overs with Ethan Garner donning the gloves again behind the stumps taking two stumpings. Woodhall went out to bat on the front foot and quickly chased it down within 27.2 overs, Gareth “Can You Cricket” Grant getting an unbeaten 73* supported my Ackers (20) & Ethan (17).

Once again Woodhall Sunday 2nd Captain Carl lost the toss to his disappointment as a last minute change of call meant Cherry put themselves into bat. A fine innings from Finlay Keal scoring 79 aided by follow opener Lee Coupland 25 started the home side off well, however nobody else got out of double figures with some fine bowling from the “Candy Man” Andy Cammish & Ben Troops getting four wickets each holding Cherry to 132 all out. Another real positive for Woodhall Spa was Lewis Sanders who played his 1st senior game coming through the U15 getting his first wicket and catch to support the bowling attack. Up steps Sam Cherry & Ben Troops who started surprisingly quickly before Sam went for 18 runs at 27-1 quickly followed by Harry Wall (7) & Lewis Negus (0) leaving Woodhall at 61-3. In comes Carl with a captains performance when needed when he has been a little out of nick and held the fought with Ben getting a 74 partnership with Carl going unbeaten top scoring on 38* for Woodhall.
