Bad Days At Office For Saturday & Sunday Teams

The 1st team were on their travels this week to Bracebridge Heath 1st’s and the game was abandoned after Woodhall had reached a competitive 157-7 in the rainy conditions, Tom Caswell getting back in the runs scoring an unbeaten 54 runs backed up with Alex Hodson scoring 22.

Woodhall Spa 2nd Team had their first taste of defeat this season while visiting a very competitive Sleaford 2nd team in very poor weather conditions. Sleaford were at one point 103-7 in a stop start game however after the heavy down poor amazingly play continued with Sleaford reaching 176-9 Dec off 41.5 overs with Dewi Bourke getting three wickets from his nine overs. Woodhall came out to bat with the light getting worse and worse trying to battle on through the drizzle however fell short only getting 96 runs with only three batsmen getting double figures, Danny Wells 34, Miles Galbraith 18 & Carl Wall 10. A note to the game was Archie Baxter making his full Saturday debut for Woodhall Spa.

After some very hard work at the club on Sunday morning and with only the Sunday 1st Team playing after the 2nd team was cancelled early doors due to the weather at Market Rasen skipper Ollie Caswell had a tough test at home to Lindum. With the top three scoring 57 unfortunately no one followed up more than 8 runs with Woodhall getting bowled out for 78 with Jake Benson taking 9 wickets from 8.3 overs. Woodhall came out fighting with some very strong bowling and fielding however Lindum got over the finish line winning by three wickets.

Next Week only the first team is playing at home in the Winkworth Cup on Saturday and on the Sunday the 2nds are at home to Blankney. The Ladies team will be hoping to get their Super 8 Season started when they travel to Nettleham to play Alford & Nettleham 3pm start.

Remember Friday nights are a hive of activity at Woodhall Spa Cricket Club with U11 & U13 training, along with the separate programme Allstars & Dynamo’s complimented with BBQ & bar open 6pm start.
